Yes, Kissing Girls Means You’ve Got a Little Gay In You…

Dear Closeted Self:

I know that right now you just think that kissing girls is natural, a part of an undefined sisterhood, but girl are you wrong! Eventually, you’ll feel secure enough to realize that you are a big gay. But you will also learn that you don’t have to box in your sexual orientation into a “lesbian” category. It’s not that you’ll realize you’re bi or curious; you will realize that your sexuality is free and open to like people, period. The biggest revelation you will have will not be the body you are attracted to, but more so, gender expression. So you like masculine/butch people… that doesn’t have to attach itself to certain type of genitalia.

Luckily, you will grow into an adult when being a queer is more acceptable. You will learn that your gender revolution will be far greater in expanding your sexual orientation revolution then you once thought. Once you break out of your gender box, you will start to see sexy in lots of different expressions. You will like boys, girls, transfolk, polys, pansexuals, straights. You will finally see that the gay rainbow you identify with can be suffocating at times and that some of the greatest opposition you will receive will come from people in your gay community. You will learn that, ultimately, people are beautiful in all shapes and forms, all colors and beliefs, all bodies, modified or not. The greatest gift you will give yourself is realizing that your sexuality is limitless. And that is why, eventually, you will identify as “queer” and that no one, not gay or straight, can box you in any longer.

Love,
Queer You
