MSNBC refused to air the MoveOn.org commercial which calls for the boycott of Target due to their campaign contribution to an anti-gay candidate.

Although Target and Best Buy both have received 100% ratings on HRC’s 2010 index (a rating system that uses criteria such as nondiscrimination policies, partner benefits and diversity training) both companies will be dropped from the guide in 2011 due to their controversial donations.

Peter Cunningham: Today I have directed our Foundation’s portfolio management firm, Trillium Asset Management, to liquidate all stock we own in Target given its support of anti-LGBT candidates. We are particularly troubled that Target has chosen to donate money to Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer, who supports a rock Christian ministry that praises Muslim countries that execute LGBT citizens.
