The school district in Mississippi that canceled the high school prom when Constance McMillen wanted to bring her girlfriend as her date was ordered to pay $81, 000 in legal fees to the student.

The Hudson High School prom made history this past Saturday when openly gay best friends were named prom king and queen. Seniors Charlie Ferrusi and Timmy Howard won their respective crown and tiara by a landslide Saturday and said the support they received from their peers and school administration has been fun and humbling.

The second attempt to recall Sam Adams, Portland, Ore.'s gay mayor, has come up short — supporters of the recall needed 32,183 signatures but were unable to achieve that number before the deadline. A Texas court has yet to make a decision as to whether a gay couple who married in Massachusetts can get a divorce in Dallas County.
