Oregon’s Attorney General leads press conference at Q-Center to unveil new hate crimes reporting system. It involves a certain level of anonymity and a website. Oregon’s hate crimes laws do not include gender identity.

Also, local activists start talking about the concept of a queer patrol.

“In direct response to last Wednesday’s [forum],” reports a Portland-based gay, bisexual, transgender and “questioning” organization in a press release Tuesday, “Oregon Attorney General John Kroger and Sean Riddell from the Oregon Department of Justice plan to announce the establishment of a confidential hate-crimes reporting system.”

The staff at the LGBT Community Center of New York City arrived at work on Wednesday to find that a rainbow flag that once flew in front of the building had been burned.
