Oregon Republicans have stripped anti-gay language from their 2012 party platform, a shift toward the political center in a state where the GOP has struggled mightily in recent years.

Jean Harris, a longtime lesbian activist who helped elect gay candidates as well as establish domestic partnerships in California and defeat an antigay ballot measure in Oregon, has died at age 66.
