Rebecca Strack of Energy Well Reiki. Fabulous Spotlight.
By Jonathan Thompson, Fabulous PDX
Imagine you and your partner are on a downward spiral, the effects of which are ruining your every day. What can you do about it? Despite endless ways of reducing stress and the health issues associated with it, many stress-relieving practices do not target the roots of your anxiety. If taking that run in the morning or drinking that herbal tea isn’t giving you the lasting results you want, it’s time to consider a new approach, and Portland’s own Rebecca Strack has just the alternative you need: Reiki.
Strack is an out and proud member of the Portland LGBT community. In her past, she would tell people counseling was her passion and medicine was her love.
“The human body has always amazed me, and I thought I wanted to be a doctor,” Strack recalls. “After working with people with disabilities for twelve years, I went back to school and got my Master’s in Counseling to fulfill half of my dream. There was always something stopping me from getting into the medical field, now I know…I was not meant to be working on the Western medicine side of things. The Universe had greater plans for me….”
Ten years ago, Strack was seeing a massage therapist who incorporated Reiki into her massage sessions. “I had no idea what she was doing. All I knew was that I left there transformed in some way every time!”
It was at this point that Strack began to take a deep look into the art of Reiki.
Reiki combines two Japanese words: Rei, which means “God’s wisdom” or “the Higher Power,” and Ki, which translates into “life force energy.” The International Center for Reiki Training defines Reiki as a technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. The concept of Reiki suggests that there is an unseen life force that flows through us and causes us to be alive.
This energy can be lowered by negative stimuli such as stress. When life force energy is low, you are more susceptible to illness and emotional turmoil. When your energy is high, you are more apt to be happy and healthy.
Since her first encounter with Reiki, Strack has become a Reiki Master-Teacher and completed the highest training possible within the Usui System, which is a way of working with Reiki for healing of oneself and others.
A member of the International Association of Reiki Professionals, last year Strack moved to Portland, where she offers her services and is a proud member of the Portland Area Business Association.
Strack’s patients see her for symptoms such as trouble dealing with an emotional issue that has come up in a relationship, ongoing feelings of sickness or feeling drained, and general lack of happiness, to name a few. Successful clients are spiritual, open to change, and committed to their own well-being.
Strack is also equipped with a Master’s in Counseling and is a nationally certified counselor.
“If something comes up for clients, they may be comforted in knowing I am available to talk with them if they would like,” Strack says.
Her Reiki services are unlike most Reiki treatments offered in the area. “There are many people in Portland that do Reiki, including many massage therapists. Most of these people are not Reiki Master-Teachers with a background in counseling.”
If you are unsure whether Strack’s services are for you, she invites you to try a specially-priced, 90 minute consultation and Reiki session. “I will explain Reiki to you and answer all of your questions about it. Then, you can try it out for yourself!”

I see Rebecca regularly and recommend her highly. I have had Reiki before and been unimpressed, but I always leave an appointment with Rebecca feeling grounded, re-focused and re-energized.
