My Princess Boy addresses anti-bullying
Dyson Kilodavis loves being a princess and he has the support of his family. His mom even wrote a children’s book about it, “The Princess Boy.” As reported in URLesque:
Five-year-old Dyson loves wearing dresses, jewelry, and all kinds of stuff that’s traditionally for girls. Although his mom, Cheryl, worries that people might laugh at him, his family and his school have been super-supportive of his fashion choices. His mom wrote a kids’ book called My Princess Boy, celebrating Dyson and offering a strong anti-bullying message.
At school, Dyson’s teachers found out that he wanted to be a princess for halloween, so some of the male staff members showed up in ballet costumes to support him. Dyson’s story is a heartwarming counterpoint to the recent high-profile wave of bullying-related suicides that inspired sex columnist Dan Savage to launch the ‘It Gets Better’ campaign.

This is absolutely wonderful. My oldest son was a princess for Halloween when he was 5, however he did not receive the same support from his school. On career day when he decided he wanted to be a rock star and showed up with eye liner on he was told to take it off because it was too distracting (although the girls are allowed to wear makeup). I have supported him 100 percent in whatever he wants to be, and am glad to know that there are other moms and even school out there that are supporting little ones who don’t dress or act “normal”.
