Montana considers LGBT anti-discrimation law

Submitted By: Fabulous Rob on February 20, 2011 One Comment

Montana’s House Judiciary Committee is considering whether to include LGBT people in the state’s anti-discrimination law, KFBB.com reports.  More from The Advocate:

“These are our sons, daughters and neighbors and constitutes and they are entitled to live a free life from discrimination,” said Democratic state representative Edie McClafferty, who has introduced legislation that would add sexual orientation and gender identity to the Montana Human Rights Act.

But McClafferty’s bill was also met with opposition from some antigay groups during a Friday hearing in Helena: “This bill actually discriminates against me and those who believe as I do that homosexuality and transgender and all of these things is an abomination to God,” said Harold Himes, a pastor and a member of Montana Eagle Forum.

Well McClafferty is correct in the fact that homosexuality is an abomination to God, but what he also forgets to tell, is that shaving your beard is an abomination to God, wearing blended clothing, eating shell fish, having a mortgage or car payment, and this is only to name a few abominations to God. Why are these not upheld? Could you imagine the uproar by people who could not get a tattoo because it is an abomination to God. Yet we do not discriminate against these people. We only want to hold on to out own discriminatory beliefs. Also if we are to go by God’s words, we are all his people no matter color, shape, nationality, or regardless of sex and chose of who we want to be with. Why do we allow people to continually allow hate in our communities? This is what it boils down to and we as civilization need to stand up against hate.
