Portland, OR – On Saturday, July 24, TextNoMore LLC will launch their brand new smart phone application and awareness campaign to the world, beginning at Pioneer Square in downtown Portland. Thousands of people are set to come together in the footprint of the TextNoMore phone application launch and global movement. The event will start in the early morning and run into the night, sure to be filled with music and speeches, food and vendor giveaways, as well as the presence of local elected officials.

“Cell phone distraction causes 2,600 deaths and 330,000 injuries in the United States every year” according to The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. TextNoMore is the first phone application of its kind, as it is geared to save lives by rewarding end users to NOT text while they drive, and in turn bring an end to distracted driving.

“Our goal at this rally is to get 10,000 downloads on our very first day of going live, which means that the message will reach 2.5 million people within 24 hours,” stated Sharon Murtagh, President, TextNoMore.

The TextNoMore Phone application is $2.99 per download for the Upgrade Version, and the basic application is Free. With the upgrade application you will have the option to choose rewards or accrue minutes towards merchandise or services such as: laptops, airline tickets, designer hand bags and much more.

Murtagh stated: “We give back from the very first day! $.25 of every paid Upgraded download will be given away to organizations who help to fill the unmet needs of families of victims from accidents involving texting while driving.”

Also be on the look out for the paid Upgrade on the Home Web pages of Not for Profit Organizations that educate, award scholarships and/or develop, support and assist minority-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. Text No More will be donating $.50 from every paid Upgraded download from these web pages to their education or scholarship funds or to those Not For Profits who develop, support and assist minority-owned businesses and entrepreneurs.

Our list of organizations who will have the upgrade will be published 24 hours before we launch the application. When you download from their website you are supporting yet another part of our community.

Additionally, You can save $1.00 by following them on Twitter and becoming a fan on Facebook.

“If our application saves one life, isn’t it worth it to a parent, child or community?” stated Rodney Stearns, CEO, TextNoMore.

TextNoMore initiates and supports worldwide efforts to abolish distracted driving, to save as many lives as possible by educating the public about the dangers of texting while driving, to strengthen international law and institutions as well as local communities, and to inspire and empower a new generation of safe drivers. Founded in 2010, the Foundation is comprised of individuals and organizations worldwide who realize the imperative for safety on the road, on the rail, and in the sky.
