Local singer/songwriter Holcombe Waller – one of Portland’s most fabulous artists – is offering fans a chance to “pre-fund” his upcoming album.

People who pre-order – and therefore pre-fund – Waller’s upcomong album will receive an advance copy this Summer, well before the public Fall release.

The album will be titled Winter Songs and it will contain many of the songs you can hear here (Here! Here! Get it?)

Holcombe offers these words about his project:

Details about the album release:

I’m an independent artist seeking to either self-produce a national release of my album comparable in scope and scale to an established indie label, or to find the perfect indie label to work with towards this end. I’ve self-released three albums since 1999, and while it’s a massive amount of work, it’s actually a process I enjoy and that I seek to integrate with the creative process and potential of the music and media itself. Whether fully independent or in collaboration with a label, this release will involve producing a beautiful physical and digital packaging context for the music, producing multiple videos, commissioning a modest but strategic national p.r. campaign to try to get reviews, and lining-up a tour in the Fall.

This budget will go towards all of the above-mentioned things. If I raise more than my goal (why not think optimistically), I’ll be applying that towards an additional video or two or ten. I am all about making music videos, it is time.

The official album release date isn’t precisely predicted yet, because it will depend on lining up some basic “team” members: a P.R. rep, and a booking agent (God willing), and any other support – with or sans label. I am aiming for early Fall. However, project backers will receive the album AS SOON AS IT IS COMPLETED, which will be three months or more BEFORE it’s release. This will be around May/June. First access is a perk of being a backer.
