Gong Show Needs Contestants, Benefit for Outside In, May 20

We’re writing you to solicit your astounding talents in this year’s GONG SHOW, a benefit show for Outside In. This year it will take place at Rotture on May 20th.
Last year we had a blast with a wonderful array of performances ranging from musical, to dramatic, to athletic, and thoroughly hilarious throughout.
This year we will be joined again on the judging table by Marjorie Skinner, and Wm Steven Humphrey of the Portland Mercury, along with William Batty and Sadie La Guerre of Wanderlust Circus. The show hosted by two members of the former Sissyboy, as Mami Tsunami & KD Rang.
All GONG SHOW contestants receive a prize just for entering, but the Winner, Runner Up, and Worst acts get even better prizes.
All the money raised for the evening, from the door to the audience raffle, goes to Outside In.
It’s very easy to participate. Your act has 30 seconds before the judges can “gong” you (yes, we have a Big Gong). After that, you have about two minutes to show the audience what you can do before the judges decide they’ve seen enough (or your act is finished).
Generally, the wackier, the zanier, the more bizarre, the better. That doesn’t mean you can’t do a serious act. Just keep in mind that the audience is primed for comedy. We’d like to stress that it doesn’t have to be mind-blowing or your best work ever. It’s not too serious of a show. We’re just trying to have some fun and raise some money for a good cause while we’re at it.
All we need from you is a “Yes, of course I will!” and a basic idea of what you might do. And we’ll keep in touch from there.
