ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida’s attorney general must decide on Friday whether to challenge the latest move to legalize gay adoptions. Bill McCollum has until the end of the day to appeal a ruling that overturned the ban.
A state appeals court ruled in September that the ban was unconstitutional because it labeled gays as unfit parents.The Florida Department of Children and Families decided against taking the case to the Florida Supreme Court.However, McCollum could pursue the matter on his own.Until the ruling, Florida was the last state with a ban on adoption by gays.
