Equity Foundation Secures over $13,400 in Grants for Oregon Humane Society
Equity Foundation has secured over $13,400 in grants for Oregon Humane Society during the last fiscal year, reflecting the diverse interests of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. Although the Oregon Humane Society is not a General Grant Cycle Grantee, the organization was supported through the Donor Advised Fund and Workplace Giving programs, which are two of the five granting programs at the foundation.
Throughout the past year, Equity Foundation has worked to secure funding sources for many grantees throughout Oregon. Oregon Humane Society emerged as one of the favorites of the foundation’s donors. Equity Foundation is a community foundation that relies on the community to both donate to the foundation and to help steer their granting programs. Funding at the foundation is driven by the community by Donor Advisors, granting committees, and other volunteers. The majority of Equity Foundation donors are members of the LGBT community as well as allies from many diverse backgrounds. Oregon Humane Society is one example of the many interests of the LGBT community.
Kevin Easton, Equity Foundation Executive Director, said, “Oregon Humane Society exemplifies the fact that the LGBT community is not only concerned with our own issues, but also with the general welfare of our entire community. The foundation pools LGBT resources to benefit all of Oregon”
Equity Foundation builds communities that advance the dignity and worth of all people. Equity Foundation promotes philanthropy and positive interaction by granting funds to organizations that work to eradicate prejudice against gender and sexual minorities and people from other diverse communities.
