   Thanks, Elton John, for your support, but no thanks. The extent to which you “give a damn” is totally opportunistic. I’m glad you care about American teenagers, but you demonstrated unequivocally that you don’t give a damn about queer Palestinians when you broke the 2005 boycott by playing in Tel Aviv this June.

   You have demonstrated a remarkable lack of understanding in terms of what political action means and why it’s important in the moment, IN THIS MOMENT, right now: fitting, since you’ve decided to speak out about this after the fact, while never lifting a finger in the meantime for queer youth in this country, who are disproportionately represented in youth homeless populations, for example, and who face a whole host of problems which the HRC could never even dream of talking about for fear of alienating their ‘base’. No, you will clearly do anything for a nice TV spot.

   You have no moral integrity. I’m tired of international celebrities speaking with a false tone of righteous indignation when they actually don’t “give a damn” about anyone but themselves and their estate.
