Letters To The Closet
The torment goes on today, but being an adult and knowing that I was not the only sissy/fag/queer and being able to meet others similarly afflicted made a big change. I as could many others write a book on how difficult it is to be gay and the toll that early torment takes on your later life. It is way past time for gays and lesbians to stand up against those that will destroy us.
You will learn that, ultimately, people are beautiful in all shapes and forms, all colors and beliefs, all bodies, modified or not. The greatest gift you will give yourself is realizing that your sexuality is limitless. And that is why, eventually, you will identify as “queer” and that no one, not gay or straight, can box you in any longer.
I know it will be hard for you to believe this, but yes, you are a lesbian, and in just a few years you will have blown right through those hundred locked closet doors as if they weren’t there. You won’t be leading an ugly, sad, lonely life. You won’t be ashamed or afraid to be caught kissing a girl, and your friends won’t drop you or betray you for it, because most of them are as gay as you are.
As you get older, you’ll meet other people who understand you better. You’ll find that you’re better able to express yourself, and this will help. Coming out at an early age is a really good idea for you, but it isn’t a good idea for everybody, so try to keep in mind that you’re going spend some time playing social tour guide.
