Botanica Floral Design is a fabulous eco-friendly full service custom floral studio located in Old Town Portland. They specialize in local, organic, fair trade and sustainably grown flowers for weddings, corporate functions, private parties special events, holidays, daily deliveries and more!
Botanica Floral Design combines their passion for flowers with their passion for the environment to create designs that are both beautiful and gentle on our planet. There is so much waste produced and many dangerous chemicals used in the commercial floral industry that Botanica decided to strive towards building a sustainable, ecologically sensitive, socially conscious and non-toxic floral service.
Botanica is a chemical free environment and all vases, buckets and floral tools are cleaned and sanitized with natural products. Botanic composts all qualifying living material and re-cycles everything they can. They do their best to recycle and reuse vases and also carry a large selection of vases made from recycled glass along with vintage vases and containers. Botanica tries not to use floral foam whenever possible. Floral foam (a.k.a oasis) is a petroleum bi- product and is not bio degradable.
After a wedding, many couples give the flower arrangements to their guests. When this does not occur, Botanica picks them up and flowers that are still fresh are bunched and delivered the next day to local women’s shelters, hospitals or nursing homes. Vases are recycled for future use. It is their intention in working with clients that precious little is wasted. We encourage you to complete nature’s cycle by composting your spent flowers thereby returning them to the earth from whence they came.
About the Owner
Owner Josef Reiter has been gardening and playing with flowers since he was kid and has worked in many different areas of the floral/nursery industry including florist shops, a catering & event company, a greenhouse, garden center, as well designing gardens for private clients before venturing out on his own with Botanica Floral Design.
