Basic Rights Trans Justice Team: “Incredible Year”
Basic Rights Oregon (BRO) is working for more than just marriage equality. The relatively new BRO Trans Justice Team had a busy 2011 and recently celebrated its accomplishments in an open email to BRO supporters.
Among the accomplishments in 2011:
Publication and distribution of “a great resource for transgender, genderqueer, and gender non-conforming Oregonians navigating the complex legal systems that affect everything from documentation to health care.” That document is avalaible by clicking the link below:

In June of 2011, the Trans Justice Team celebrated the Portland City Council’s decision to extend trans-inclusive healtcare to all city employees.
Then, in October, the Team hosted a Trans Justice Health Care Summit that was attended by 140 community members interested in issues related to advocating for fair health care and racial justice.
Throughout the year, more than 200 people attended various trainings sponsored by the BRO Trans Justice Team.
