PABA is the Portland Area Business Association. It is best described as the GLBT Chamber of Commerce for Portland. Membership is open to anyone regardless of sexual identity. The organization provides many types of support for businesses of all sizes in the Portland Metro Area. It currently has four Business Networking Groups called “Biz Builders.”
The Colin Higgins Foundation is seeking nominations of LGBTQ youth activists who have transformed their experiences with discrimination into opportunities to inspire others by taking action, rallying support, and working to transform the systems and institutions that impact their lives.
Three honorees will receive a $10,000 grant which will be presented in New York City at The Trevor Project’s Benefit Gala in June.
Since the federal government doesn’t recognize same-sex marriage, gay couples who are living in states that do recognize their various legal unions must still file separate federal returns. That requires more record-keeping and planning than their heterosexual counterparts — and oftentimes, gay couples will have to pay more to an accountant to prepare their returns.
