Anderson Cooper and his CNN crew were attacked in Cairo by supporters of embattled Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak as violence escalated in the country on Wednesday.  As reported in The Advocate:

The Huffington Post reports on the attack, during which Cooper was punched in the head 10 times, according to a tweet from a crew member.

Cooper talked about the assault on American Morning, where he explained that he and his team tried to find a neutral space between pro-Mubarak demonstrators and protesters calling for the authoritarian leader to step down immediately.

“We never got that far,” he said. “We were set upon by pro-Mubarak supporters punching us in the head.” He said that “the crowd kept growing, kept throwing punches, kicks…suddenly a young man would look at you and punch you in the face.”
